ASKELL 66+

To break the world sailing speed record aboard a prototype of excellence,
a symbol of performance and prowess.
To turn this challenge – physical, technological and mental –
into an event of national and international reach.

ASKELL 66+,the Plane-Boat.

• Askell 66+ will not be a flying boat; it will be a plane-boat – or, as we like to describe it among ourselves, “wings connected to one another,” which is where the name “Askell” comes from.
• Water, of course, but also air and water vapour: it is by mastering these three forces simultaneously that we – and you – will make history in water sports.
• Thanks to this technological disruption and the major innovations it entails, the 66-knot barrier is no longer an end goal; rather, it is the starting point of a great human adventure – one apt to reshape humanity’s relationship with the sea and the wind.

A World Record – and much more

Beyond the sporting challenge, this project bears the promise of cutting-edge technological advances that are liable to transform the design of the vessels of tomorrow, from recreational boating to commercial shipping.

Nothing less than a laboratory for naval innovation, Askell 66+ will carry the renewal of sailing ships in its wake and will remain a major contributor to the decarbonisation of maritime transport.

Supporting Askell 66+ also means giving a significant boost to MMProcess, a young French company at the forefront of nautical innovation, and contributing to the emergence of a future global leader in naval architecture.

The Record Attempt

Our goal is to break the 500-metre record with an average speed exceeding 66 knots.
It is essential to have sufficient space to accelerate but also to decelerate at the end of the run. The flatter the surface of the water, the greater the chances of achieving both speed and stability.
We plan to test the boat in Quiberon Bay, then seek record-breaking conditions in Leucate, in southern France.
Optimal conditions are also to be found in the Netherlands (Texel), as well as Namibia, which remains a highly promising option.

Throughout all these phases, from the construction of the model to the record attempt, you can follow us on social media, in the press and on TV.

For each occasion, we will organise spectacular events for the public and our partners!

Join us and be part of this adventure!
